Up the Creek

You ever wonder where some expressions come from....

Like "up the creek without a paddle"....

I guess this guy didn't have a paddle... but would it have made a difference?

Winston Faces

I was trying out my new drone.... which runs like a little remote control car on the ground with a camera attached to it.

I guess the world looks a lot different from the ground. I am sure I am probably offending someone when I say " these Winstom Churchill look alikes... are really ugly" .... they also got drool on my camera lens.

Aliso Creek

With the roads filled with traffic as a result of spring break.... some inventive people have decided to go to the beach via Aliso Creek.

This group was the first ones to get thru today/. Congratulations!

Let's Go Surfin...

It was a little overcast, but the waves were supposed to be awesome.

J.C. was getting ansy. He gave me that look.

"Drink down the Nazi brew and let's go Surfin dude!" ... he said with that look.

Damn! I wish I knew how to surf. . I also wish that was my car.

Going to the Holdiay Inn

I was heading over to the Holiday Inn to check on their room availability for some guests we were expecting in the not to distant future. I know this is a tough area to park your car, but this seemed to be a place where the driver must have been desperate.

I think the vehicle is sleeping....

Lobster Man

As usual there are always strange people to be found in Laguna. Here the police take "Lobster Man" into custody when his claws got caught in the "cooky jar"

Taking a Break

Just in case you are wondering why I have not posted much lately....

Just taking a break to get some fresh thoughts...

By the way.... St. Patty's Day on Friday night was dead.

St Patty's Eve

St Patricks Day on a Friday and a rainy one! The Chief is expecting a nasty evening.... which is normal for this event. He has asked me to take along a video cam to record the nights events.

In addition to this, I get to ride with Seargent G. R. who I have not had the pleasure of riding with for about 6 months. This should be pretty interesting.

2 Weeks ago we had a drunk driver pulled over... and while he was being given the field sobriety test, another drunk driver hit our Police Tahoo unit and put us out of service.

What do you see?

I took this pic the other day as part of a drive around to get various photos for the police web site.

Most people would see 2 officers looking at some questionable 'stuff', while the other officer watches the suspect.

The truth of this picture is the officer in Orange is an ex marine... a truly great person.... and one that is dying of cancer and has probably less than 2 weeks to live.

There is nothing else to say...

Big Appetite!

I always look at license plates to see if I can figure out what they mean and then try to look at the driver to see if it is a match.

I got this one blurry trying to shoot while driving.... so I darkened the letters so you could see what they were.

5ATE166..... sounds like they were boasting.

I pulled along side to see what the driver looked like.... and I must admit.... the driver looked like they just came from having a huge meal!

Young Artists

These youngsters were playing at the corner of Forest and the Highway.

I sure like this a lot better than some transient playing for tips.

They even seem to draw a younger audience.

Bird Dog

Jean Claude tells me he comes from a long line of Bird Dogs. How the Standard Poodles were used to retrieve the birds out of the water.

That's what he tells me..... I am not sure if he is pulling my tail.... he hates the water.

I asked him about it.... he just gives me that look.... like it's none of my business.

Alien Landing

One of my informers told me about some aliens using a place by Heisler Park used for 'jumping' to our planet.

I hung around a few hours at the specified place and sure enough 2 of them arrived.

The male appeared to have picked the wrong coordinates and found himself transported into the rock itself.

The female was just solidifying as I toook the shot.

I saw her later at Hobies doing some shopping.

Where am I?

I was going through my pics from the other day when I came across this one.

I don't remember leaving the country. It looks like I was somewhere strange like Iraq.....

Scary... Must be the oldtimers disease.

Self Ef Facing

Heisler Park has lots of arty scupltures that I just don't get.

I studied this for a while and think I finally figured it out.

Looks like a lady with a big nose and a rabbit head on the back of her hat.

It must have some great meaning.

I guess I am stupid and just don't get it.

The "L" Word

Nope. The "L" word is not what you think it is. Close but no cigar.

It has been said, that guys with first names starting with the letter 'L' have a tendency to be gay.

I figured the best way to research this was to go to Laguna Beach (hmmmmm.. starts with the letter "L") and look for some sort of sign.

I did not have to wait long before I saw the sign. It was on a hill over looking the High School (Laguna Beach High School...another "L" word).

Last year the sign was all white.

This year it is a Rainbow. .... I guess I got my answer after all.

Squeaky Clean

I took a ride over to Balboa Island with doggie so we could take the ferry over to the Penninsula. JC loves to look out the window at the boats sailing by.

I noticed the island seemed unusually clean.

As I waited in line for the ferry, I discovered how they keep the island so pristine.

They bring it over to this place to have it washed.

# 50 Potato

Several of the readers asked about the # 50 potato... so I thought I had better clarify things. I asked Phil to bring the one he used to get into the Zaget listing.

As you can see here, Phils potato is huge.

I held his potato and can tell you it is heavy!

I guess I will never make the Zaget listing... I checked.... my potato looks like a #2 :-(

Getting your Wish

While covering the Patriots Day Parade in Laguna Beach, I spotted my sister Elizabeth Hudson getting her wish granted by the famous Wish Fairy.

From my understanding of the process... the fairy sprinkles larger amounts of fairy dust based on the difficulty of the wish.

When I last looked, Elizabeths face was totally covered with dust!

That must have been a really really big request!

Finding Bubba

We had heard that our Grandson Arnold Rivers had opened a business up the coast. Arnold use to be totally into skate boarding... but had gone to a palm reader one day and was told that he was destined to become the Shrimp King of Santa Monica.

We looked high and low and then finally found his place. Grandma Janet is sooo proud!

Walking the Plank

I was running a little late, so I was not sure if I would get to see this event. This does not happen all that often, so I would have hated to miss it.

There is a little known place on the north end referred to as 'mussel beach'.... which is obvious from the picture.

It is here that bad tourists from 'Garden Grove' are forced to walk the plank.

I am not sure what happened... since at this time the plank had not arrived.... and I had to go off to another call.

Last Day at El Moro

I was told today was to be the last day at El Moro. This trailer park on the beach was in a classic setting. In honor of the event there was going to be a concert.... like a concert by the sea.

I was told there was going to be a famous opera star singing a beautiful Italian love song.

As usual, I was told the wrong time and got there just after she finished.
